UNLOCKING BARRIERS TO THE EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION OF ANTI-GBV POLICIES

On 24 April 2026 in Huye District, KEEPCARE, in partnership with Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) and ECORYS, officially launched a transformative project aimed at addressing the persistent barriers to effective implementation of Anti-Gender-Based Violence (GBV) policies in Rwanda. Supported through funding from the Scottish Government, the initiative brings together local leaders, community stakeholders, educators, youth representatives, and civil society organizations in a shared commitment to creating safer and more inclusive communities.

The project focuses on strengthening awareness, prevention, and response mechanisms related to GBV, particularly violence affecting girls and vulnerable young women. Special attention will be given to supporting teen mothers through education advocacy, psychosocial support, community empowerment, and reintegration opportunities that help them rebuild their futures with dignity and confidence.

During the launch event, stakeholders emphasized the importance of collective action, community engagement, and policy accountability in combating GBV. Participants reaffirmed their dedication to protecting the rights of girls, promoting gender equality, and ensuring that survivors of violence receive the support and protection they deserve.

The initiative marks another important step toward building a society where every girl and woman can live free from violence, discrimination, and fear.
